60-75 mins to preapre and bake | Makes about 35 large or 50 small Melomakarouna
Method
Whisk the sugar and oil until combined, then mix in all the remaining ingredients for the Melomakarouna listed above in a bowl.
Taking about a 1/2 tbsp - tbsp of the mixture, roll to form a ball and place on a prelined baking tray. Repeat until all the mixture is finished.
Bake at 160 degrees Celsius fan for 25-30 minutes or until lightly golden.
For the syrup, add sugar, water and honey to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Set aside and leave to cool and solidify.
Once the cookies are baked, place on a cooling rack to cool down for 10 minutes. Then dip each one into the honey syrup.
Top with crushed walnuts and store in an airtight container (stays fresh up to a week this way).
