Bouyiourdi - Cheesy Feta Dip
Discover Bouyiourdi, a lesser-known yet absolutely delicious appetiser from Thessaloniki. This cheesy feta dip is packed with flavour and perfect for sharing! Enjoy it warm with crusty bread or fresh vegetables for a taste of Greece.
Note: Usually this dip contains feta as well as a Greek cheese called Kasseri but as that’s difficult to find in the UK, I suggest using either grated gruyer or grated mozzarella.
Ingredients
1 large beef tomatoes or 2 medium ones, sliced
200g feta, crumbled
30g grated kasseri/ mozzarella/ gruyer
Approx 2 tbsp chopped roasted red peppers from a jar
1-2 picked green chilli, chopped
Sprinkle of dried organic
Drizzle of olive oil
30-35 mins to prepare and cook | Serves 2-3
Method
Place the thinly sliced tomatoes in a baking dish. Layer the crumbled feta, and then the grated cheese.
Top with the chopped red peppers and green chillis and season with the oregano and olive oil.
Cover with an oven-safe lid or foil, and bake for 15 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
Remove the lid / foil and continue baking for a further 5 minutes to become golden.
