Greek Style Halva - Semolina Pudding

Halva is a beloved treat enjoyed across many different cultures and in many different ways 😍 It is a delicious no-bake dessert with a rich, nutty flavour and perfectly soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Let me show you how to make this incredible Greek version with only a few ingredients! ✨

Ingredients

  • 100g chopped pecans (or any nut of your choice)

  • 185g course semolina

  • 185g fine semolina

  • 150ml vegetable oil

  • 400g caster sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Zest of 1 orange

  • 600ml water

30-40 mins to prepare and make | Makes 1 cake

Method

  1. In a pan, add the chopped pecans over a medium heat and toast for 5-7 minutes until aromatic, meanwhile continually stirring not to burn.

  2. Place the pecans in a bowl and set aside. In the same pan, add the fine and course semolina and oil. Continually stir on a medium heat for 10 minutes.

  3. To the same pan, add the sugar, cinnamon, orange zest and water. Stirring continually, cook for 5 minutes until it’s thick.

  4. Once the texture has solidified, stir through the toasted pecans.

  5. To a cake tin, preferably one with a hole in the middle, add and press down the halva mixture. Leave to cool for 10 minutes before carefully tipping over on a plate and serving.

  6. Enjoy warm or cold.
